Terms of Service
Scope
These Terms cover your use of readingsteiner.moe (the "Service"). By uploading a file or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Acceptable Use Policy below. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
These Terms may be revised at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Your content
Files you upload are yours. By uploading, you give the Service permission to store, back up, serve, and (where necessary to operate or defend the Service) inspect that content. You must own the content you upload, or have the right to share it.
The Service may automatically remove a file at any time if it is identified as malware, an executable, or otherwise disallowed under the Acceptable Use Policy - this may happen without human review at the time of upload.
There is no guarantee of availability or that data won't be lost. Don't treat this as your only copy of anything that matters.
No accounts, no guarantees
The Service is anonymous - there are no accounts, and no way to prove ownership of an uploaded file after the fact. Anyone with a file's link can view it. Don't upload anything you don't want publicly accessible.
Termination
Access may be suspended or blocked, and files removed, at any time, for any reason, without notice - most commonly for violations of the Acceptable Use Policy.
"As-is" service
The Service is provided as-is, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any damages, losses, or costs arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the Service's operator, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local law requires otherwise.
Privacy Policy
What is collected
- Upload metadata - for every upload: your IP address, the file's size, a content hash (SHA-256), detected file type, and the timestamp. This is stored and logged regardless of whether the upload succeeds or is rejected.
- Access logs - standard web request logs (IP, user agent, requested path, timestamp) for the pages and files you request.
- File content - the files themselves, stored until deleted or purged per the retention policy below.
Why
This data exists for abuse response, rate limiting, and legal compliance (e.g. responding to a valid DMCA notice or law enforcement request). This is explicitly a monitored service - see the Acceptable Use Policy.
With whom
Data is not sold or shared with advertisers. It may be disclosed where legally required, or as necessary to investigate abuse of the Service.
Retention
Every upload requires a fixed expiration, chosen at upload time: 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. Once that time is up the link stops working and the file is deleted, regardless of activity. Access/request logs are retained for a shorter, rolling period.
Cookies
The Service does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Acceptable Use Policy
You will not use the Service to do, or attempt, any of the following:
- upload executables, installers, or scripts of any kind - this is enforced by inspecting file content, not just the filename, and applies regardless of what extension a file is given;
- upload malware, viruses, or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to a system;
- upload child sexual abuse material, or sexualized depictions of real minors - this is reported to the relevant authorities on discovery;
- upload content you don't have the rights to distribute, including pirated software, full episodes/movies, or other copyright-infringing material;
- use the Service as a CDN, ad-monetized hotlink source, or other commercial redistribution without prior written permission;
- attempt to circumvent rate limits, file-size limits, or content filtering;
- scrape, mass-download, or otherwise place unreasonable automated load on the Service;
- use the Service to harass, threaten, or dox any person;
- violate any applicable law in connection with your use of the Service.
Violating this policy will get the offending content removed and the source IP blocked, at the operator's discretion, without notice.
